Delhi Budget 2017: No Tax Burden, Special Emphasis on Education


DelhionWeb: 08 Mar, 2017, Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party government's third budget is being introduced in Delhi. Announcing the budget of 2017-18, Manish Sisodia, who assumed the charge of the State Finance Minister, said that this year no new tax proposal and no tax will be extended. They said that due to the GST the tax will increase, hence no new tax has been levied.

  • Delhi's budget is away from tradition this time. The Outcome Budget is being introduced for the first time in the country.
  • The outcome budget will have an agreement between the government and the departments. The department will decide the target and the government will fulfill them.

  • The use of the Mohalla Clinic in Delhi has been very successful

  • One thousand increase in senior citizens' pension
  • Increased fee was withdrawn in schools
  • Course for skill development has started in 10 night shelters of Delhi
  • The salary of skilled and semi-skilled laborers was increased
  • Budget estimate of Rs 48,000 crore for the financial year 2017-18
  • State Government will get revenue of Rs 38,700 crore
  • Delhi government will give Rs 4,000 crore as interest and principal to the Indian government
  • Municipal corporations were allocated more than 15.8% of the total budget, no loans and interest were taken from them
  • This year, 11,300 crores will be spent on education, which is 24% of the budget
  • Two new DIITs will be set up in Delhi, so that the quality of education improves

  • Nursery classes will be started in 156 government schools

  • Delhi government will subsidize school uniform

  • Rs 282 crores will be given for computer labs in schools.
  • Punjabi and Urdu clubs will be opened in all schools.
  • Dance teachers will be appointed in every school.
  • The teachers of the government school will be given the tablets.
  • A total of Rs. 5736 crores has been made for the health of the budget.
  • By the end of this financial year more than 150 local clinics will be established.
  • By next year the number of the Mohalla clinics will be 1,000.
  • Government hospitals in Delhi will be able to increase 10,000 beds by next year.
  • In addition, 7 new hospitals are also being built.
  • 5 new drug de-addiction centers will be opened in Delhi.
  • In the road accident, the injured person will receive a cash prize of Rs. 2,000 for the person who is in hospital.
  • With the help of private hospitals, patients of government hospitals will be referred to the private hospital.
  • Budget on Roads and Traffic
  • Electronic ticket machines will be installed in DTC buses.
  • 10,000 new auto permits will be issued in Delhi
  • 582 new coach of Delhi Metro will be installed.
  • Delhi Metro will get Rs 1156 crore
  • Underpass in Ashram Chowk
  • Sky Walk will be built on ITO
  • Flyover between Mahipalpur and Airport Road will be built
  • Slums will be free to Delhi.
  • Flats were built for slum dwellers in Baprola and Dwarka.
  • This year 5,000 people were shifted from the slums and shifted to homes.
  • 8,000 new toilets were prepared to free Delhi from open defecation.
  • 5,000 new toilets will be made next year.
  • For solar energy, the target is set to 1000 MW in the next 5 years
  • At the same time, three new power plants will be set up in Delhi to create electricity from the garbage.
  • Battery-driven vehicles will be subsidized by Delhi Government
