Assam Court Issues Bailable Warrant against Arvind Kejriwal over Defamation Case

DelhionWeb: 11 Apr, 2017, A local court of Assam has issued a bailable warrant for arrest against Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party's national convener Arvind Kejriwal. After the Kejriwal did not appear in the previous hearing, the court has issued the warrant. Kejriwal's application was rejected by the court for a case of criminal defamation and demand of time for the muscular. Kejriwal had demanded more time for the muscular while referring to the inconvenience of MCD election in Delhi. A case of defamation was registered against Kejriwal for comment on Prime Minister Modi's educational qualification.

Kejriwal had questioned the prime minister's degree in December last year and told him 12th pass. Delhi CM, while attacking PM Modi in his tweet on December 15, wrote: "Modiji is 12th pass. After that degree is fake. "Kejriwal had said this while retweeting a tweet. Regarding that, BJP leader Surya Ronghar filed a defamation case against him. On the basis of which the police registered a case against the Delhi CM against Section 499, section 500 and section 501 of the IPC.

The court has issued a bail warrant of Rs 10000 for hearing in the defamation case against Arvind Kejriwal. The court has issued warrants against them for not appearing in the previous two hearings of the case. The next hearing of this case will be May 8. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced a demonetization on November 9. After which people had to face difficulties. Kejriwal raised questions about PM Modi's educational qualification regarding this.
